Intro to Clay HeArt Art Week

This week working in clay, you will use coils, slabs, stamps, embossing, molds and textures. All techniques you use when working in clay. Watch the video for a demonstration of the 5 clay projects.

Create 5 sketches for: 

• 1.  clay heart with embossed texture from cloth and drawings
• 2. clay heart with stamps and drawings
• 3. one heart art bowl with drawings
• 4.  one heart art box with drawings
• 5. & finally one 2 person people sculpture made also out of clay with a heart.

**ALL HEART PROJECTS MUST HAVE YOUR FULL name and CLASS period FOR CREDIT**

clay rules

1. no throwing clay at all 2. use a pencil for drawing in clay 3. wash your hands only when you are finished for the day 4. clay tools and sponge  back at the sink and extra clay back in the bag when you are finished 5. no clay every leaves the classroom 6. clay must be joined so no line shows separating the 2 pieces of clay

HAND BOWL

• Draw a zentangle hand sketch and upload to Artsonia.

• Trace your hand in clay.

• Place in a bowl with a paper towel underneath so it doesn't stick to the bowl.

• Draw your zentangle lines on the hand.

• Put your name and period on the back. (no initials)

clay EGG & clay EGG holder

1. Sketch the clay animal you want to make for an egg cup. 
2. Make a pinch pot and add details, texture for your animal. 
3. Take a plastic egg and make sure the egg fits in the egg cup. Remember clay shrinks about 10%. 
4. Put your name and period on the bottom before you hand it in.
